PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is the art and process of capturing and recording images through

the manipulation of light through the use of film or digital devices. It is not just snapping a moment in time, but more about the compositions so consider the elements and principles of design when composing your shot.

Lighting, distractions, three pillars, angles, perspective, personalities, and anticipating the action are more considerations. Visual art knowledge and personal intentions will come through in your photography.

Photography Syllabus

This class is an introduction to photography. You will learn the technical aspects of photography and how it has changed throughout time. You will also learn how to use your compact digital camera in order to take better photographs. You will utilize the computer to create your personal website, submit final projects, write and report critiques, create videos, research on the Internet, create PowerPoint slides and finally, manipulate your images.

Anyone can take a picture. “To create a photograph requires just a little bit of information and a good deal of practice” (Jason Youn). It also takes a little bit of luck as well as being at the right place at the right time.

You will be taking a lot of images so having a camera will be important. You can borrow one from a family member or share one of mine.

As you complete this class, you will have a nice variety of images that can be used in the KAP Digital imaging class. Come join the fun and make what you already do, shine.
