"The only true equalizers in the world are eBooks; the only treasure-house open to all comers is a library; the only wealth which will not decay is knowledge; the only jewel which you can carry beyond the grave is wisdom." - J. A. Langford.

We welcome you to the first issue of our Quarterly, Journal of Technology for ELT. Our contribution to our readers in this issue is a collection of selected technology - enhanced language teaching materials from an array of writers across the country.

We all have to utilize a range of new technologies for language teaching purposes, evaluate appropriate approaches and assess the advantages and limitations of technological tools. The use of technology in language learning and teaching involves the employment of socio cognitive/ socio constructive approaches to language teaching. Social interaction is seen as an essential factor in learning. ICT provides authentic materials also for learners to perform real-life tasks by using the new technologies.

The process of teaching and learning is constantly changing. The paradigm changes every now and then, in response to the needs of the learning situation. This dynamism in the teaching learning process adds lustre to the varied activities that take place in the second language classroom. Experience and expression contribute much to the teaching profession and we encourage our contributors to share their experience with us. Our online journal tries to create a common platform where English language professionals at various levels can share their ideas, feelings, research findings with their colleagues. We sincerely believe that we would be able to enrich the repertoire of language teaching activities in a meaningful and effective way.
