3. Discussion/Research Assignment - 2 points
Research SEO – Search Engine Optimization
this is sometimes referred to as
SEM - Search Engine Marketing, PPC, Page Rank or Ranking, Meta Keyword, What is SPAM to Google, Black Hat, and other interesting concepts.
Beware of the AD's - people trying to sell their service, also be careful to look at current information ... SEO/SEM has changed dramatically over the years!
A good place to start is the master of Advertising Google ... this site explains how Google SEO works: http://www.hobo-web.co.uk/seo-tutorial
After you become comfortable with the concepts of SEO - you may be ready for Webmaster Guidelines: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35769?hl=en&ref_topic=6002025

ScreamingFrog- a Desktop tool for crawling sites and pulling SEO related information (like page titles and descriptions) into a tabular spreadsheet format. Free for up to 500 URLs.
Don’t Make Me Think-Web Usability book. Quick and easy read, highly recommended. Note: you can search & read most of the book - from Amazon's README - which is linked to Google Books.
This week I want you to spend MORE time on the research ... hence the 200+ words and Links
Research topics should take you about 2 hours per week - if they are as important as SEO & SEM and you deal with advertising of a product/service/concepts - take some extra time with this topic!
Note: Each 3 credit college class is about 8 hours work per week for a 15 week class. If the class is only 12 weeks then it is almost 10 hours per week. That equates to 4 or 5 college classes = a full time job of 40 hours, hence ... Full time student = 4 or 5 classes per week = 40 hours of course&study per week.
If the subject is hard for you - it could take you less hours per week to master it, if the subject is easy for you - it may take less time. But a good rule of thumb ... when planning your week ... to allocate 8 hours per class.
Give me 200+ words with links to your sources, on what you can do to drive traffic to your site.
4. Code Examples/2 Before & After - 3 points
This week because you spent more time on the Research - you only have to do 2 B+A's
Each week do 2 Before & After examples – Upload them to your CLASSweb.ccv.edu web space
When you are ready for JilMac to grade you, put a LINK to the Google Assignment12 web page in Moodle.
Then add some SEO that you learned about from your research - to one of the B+A's Use this as your 3rd B+A. In your "What I changed" tell me what you did to increase the SEO of this web page.
