Gila Fine

Gila Fine spoke at the Kol Haot Haggadah Fair 2018. The topic she was asked to speak about was the 4th plague (this was probably prompted by the fact that I had suggested I would talk about this plague...) She did a wonderful job covering some of the problems surrounding the symbolism, meaning, and translation of this plague. Gila is the editor in chief of Maggid Books, a home for contemporary Jewish thought (Koren Publishers Jerusalem Ltd.). Maggid offers works of high originality and profound religious passion from the Jewish world’s leading scholars, including Joseph B. Soloveitchik, Jonathan Sacks, Adin Steinsaltz, Norman Lamm, Binyamin Lau, and Shlomo Riskin. In her spare time, Gila is a teacher of talmudic narrative, and has previously taught at the Hebrew University, Tel-Aviv University, and the Shalom Hartman Institute. She is the former editor of the quarterly journal Azure: Ideas for the Jewish Nation, and the ghostwriter behind several books and articles.

After her talk, I spoke to her and she agreed to meet me to discuss some of my findings concerning the 4th plague.
