After having written almost 77 pages on the topic of the 4th plague in Egypt (flies or wild animals?), I found an article titled "Beasts or Bugs - Solving the Problem of the Fourth Plague" written by Gary A. Rendsburg in the "Bible Review" April 2003. The article covers some ground I've written about and gives a good overview of some of the problems this plague poses. The article can be found HERE. I was especially glad to find this link because all other Internet links leading to the original article on the Biblical Archaeology Society's webpage were dead.

The topic of Beasts or Bugs is what I will be talking about at the British Association of Jewish Studies Conference 2017 in Edinburgh. My talk is titled "Taking the Haggadah through Time and Space: Why so many Flies in English Haggadot?" and will ask and answer some questions not included in Dr. Rendsburg's article.

Dr. Rendsburg has written numerous articles on the Hebrew Bible, Bible translations, the Exodus and other related topics which have all been made available through his Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences webpage. Lots to read up on and investigate.
