At the far right side of your own estate (depending on the size of your screen you might have to move the view to be able to see it) there is another foundation trench on which you can choose 1 out of 6 buildings to produce resources for the clan. If required you can destroy your current choice and build another one, though you will not receive any of the Riolite or Energy you spent on it back.
The first 3 of the buildings are used to produce the basic resources Logs, Cobblestones and Iron Ore. The other 3 buildings are used to process them further into Boards, Construction Stones and Sheets of Iron. These resources, along with some special ones and clan energy, can then be used to build and upgrade buildings in the Citadel. They are also used to learn recipes in the Magic Pot or produce things in the Repair Workshop.
Logging: Using Energy you can produce Logs.
Stone Quarry: Using Energy you can produce Cobblestones.
Iron Mine: Using Energy you can produce Iron Ore.
Sawmill: Using Energy and Logs you can create Boards.
Rock Pit: Using Energy and Cobblestones you can create Construction Stones.
Iron Foundry: Using Energy and Iron Ore you can produce Sheets of Iron.
From this and knowing that the clan will need all of the final resources, it makes sense to try distribute the buildings evenly in the clan so that there is people working on all of the resources.

Notes: Even though the total cost in energy per production is increased for the raw material buildings, upgrading it reduces the cost per resource. Starting off with a level 1 building you will spend 4,8 Energy per resource, upgrading to level 2 will reduce this to 4,5 and so on. All the way down to 3,9 Energy per Log, Cobblestone or Iron Ore in a level 6 building. However to make it worth the cost of upgrading the building, you will have to produce quite a lot of materials - while you should consider that your clan requires a huge amount of resources to build and upgrade the Citadel.
