Marlène Mélon

Marlène obtained her PHD at UCLouvain, working on the BEST project. She obtained her Master in Psychological Sciences at ULiège. Her masterthesis focused on cognitive mechanisms involved in Alzheimer's disease. Her current project focuses on wellbeing optimization in older adults in particulary by holiday taking. Holiday taking can be considered as an original way to cope with the difficulties associated with aging (e.g.,  self image, bereavement, identity) thank to multiple holiday-related mechanisms (e.g., routine break, discovering, stress relief, physical activity, self-development, contact with nature, etc.). The results of Marlène's research make it possible to encourage the public authorities to improve access to holidays for the disadvantaged older adults. Her research also encourages the tourism industry to thoroughly review the offer and services for aged public and suggest support strategies to social workers.
