Djouaria Ghilani

Djouaria obtained her a PhD at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (U.L.B.). After completing her Master degree in Social Psychology at U.L.B., she obtained a grant from the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (F.N.R.S.) and started her PhD under the joint supervision of Olivier Klein (U.L.B.) and Olivier Luminet (U.C.L.).

Her thesis aimed at answering the following question: how do we derive lessons from History? More specifically, what are the cognitive mechanisms involved in the process of applying “history lessons” to new, current situations (i.e., historical analogy)?

Thus, her main research interests focus on the effects of historical analogies on prospective judgments, the role of cognitive and emotional factors in the process of learning from history, as well as lay judgments of conflicts.

Keywords: analogical reasoning, historical lessons, cognitive perceptions of the future
