Aurélie Van der haegen

Aurélie obtained her Master degree in Psychology in 2013. After one year, she started her Ph.D (4 years F.S.R).

Her doctoral research focuses on the Intergenerational Transmission of memories. Little research has been conducted within the framework of Psychology. Most of Collective Memory's research in Psychology compared what remains salient in the Collective Memory of different countries.

The purpose of this project is to analyses how different historical events are transmitted by different generations and which aspects lead to a better or worse transmission (e.g., identity, emotion, distributed roles). This project will also analyse the transmission of trauma across generations.

The data analysis will be both quantitative and qualitative. Aurélie will attempt to examine the transmission of Collective memory in light of existing research in other fields (Sociology, Anthropology, ...) and by integrating it in the field of Social Psychology.
