Maaike Van Den Houten

Maaike holds a PhD  in Health Psychology, obtained in December 2017 from the KULeuven. Her PhD research focused on symptom perception processes in medically unexplained symptoms and functional somatic syndromes. She is interested in studying interoceptive and symptom perception processes, physiological stress reactivity and general body-mind interactions particularly in the context of bodily distress disorders and functional somatic syndromes. 

Maaike is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at UCLouvain on the FRS-FNRS funded project "Interoception across domains and dimensions". She is currently working on developing and validating a new task to measure interoceptive accuracy of respiratory sensations. Maaike is also affiliated to the Health Psychology group of KULeuven and the faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at Hasselt University.
