Hubbard church of the Nazarene has a small but very useful library, which is located downstairs accross from the office and nurseries, and beside "The Lydia Room".

A variety of of helpful materials are available for in-library and check-out use by churchgoers. Books, videos, audio teachings, and puzzles are among the materials accessible through the church library. The collection contains reference and fiction works, entertainment and educatonal resources, materials for children, youth and adults.

Among the collection are a variety of Bible translations, audio bibles and comentaries, handbooks on Bible topics such as Bible lands, cultures and geography, as well as materials for everyday living, helps for marriage and parenting, witnessing, leadership, teaching and serving.

Children's story and picture Bibles are available for every age, including toddler board-books with colorful images and cut-outs or lift-the-flap interaction.

The church has a section devoted to teen books, containing such titles as the Left Behind series. Fiction and nonfiction works for adults are also availible from aughors such as Frank Perretti, Francine Rivers, Billy Grahm, John MacArthur, Chuck Swindoll, Bob Larson, Josh McDowell, James Dobson, Tim LaHay, Pat Robertson and Corrie Ten Boom.

A collection of missionary stories are kept in the church library for your convenience to allow people in the church to become more aware of what the missionaries in the feild are doing.

History: This library was started by Jackie Neumann some years back, during the time that Pastor Willoughby was with us. At some point there was water damage that closed the library for an extended period of time, during which many of the volunteers stepped down or move away. When the materials had been sorted through and inspected for damage, the library was reopened. This was about 5 years ago. Various people have facilitated the function of the library through the years. Currently, Vonnie Miller is in charge of this ministry.

Because of the shifting of leadership, damage to materials and passage of time, the system is in flux. Please do not be discouraged from using the library for this reason. Several variations of the original organization and check-out system have been employed. The basics of the current system are as follows:

The church library opperates on the honor system, and is self-serve.

Patrons "register" as users by filling out an

index-card registration card. These cards are found in the card-file box in the top drawer of the file cainet. These are then placed in the file box under the correct tab. Patrons may then select up to two items at a time to check out. Items are checked out by removing the card from the library pocket in the back of each book, signing and dating it. If there is no card, an index card, extra pocket card or piece of paper may be substituted for this. Simply write the name of the book you wish to check out, date the card and sign your name. These cards are then placed into the basket provided.

When returning books, simply take the card from the basket, black out your signature with the marker, place the card back in the card pocket, and reshelve the books. Organization of the books is mostly topical and very flexible. Do not worry about putting them in "the wrong place."

The library is open before most services, from 9:00-9:30AM on Sunday mornings, from 5:30-6:00PM on Sunday evenings, and from 6:30-7:00PM on Wednesday evenings.

As the ministry gets back on it's feet, we hope to include more music and fiction works, expand hours and have the books better organized. For now we hope everyone will enjoy the materials we have available at this time!
