Qualitative Research I Did
Although I am specialized in Excel and Quantitative research. I did various qualitative research projects in wage labor and as an entrepreneur. In Qualitative research I mostly did the fieldwork or the stages before the end results. In this blog I give an overview of all the projects I did in qualitative research.
The most common fieldwork in qualitative research is interviewing and open questions in a quantitative survey. I have plenty of experience with this stage of qualitative research. I wrote various blogs about the qualitative interview work I have done for internship Police, internship Staal & Select, Forum, E-Quality, Inview and IPSOS I&O. The links to these blogs can be found in the section Related blogs on my website.
Besides taking minutes (notuleren) during focus groups I also was the interviewer during some focus group meetings. Taking minutes I did for E-Quality, IPSOS I&O and when having meetings with clients to set up a quote or to discuss a project, paper or quote. For the projects Reality Keeper & Anoiksis 'Onderzoek Validatie vragenlijst Behandelrelatie' I was the lead interviewer for the focus group meetings. For the project 'Onderzoek Validatie vragenlijst behandelrelatie' the members of Anoiksis were interested in discussing the project besides filling in various surveys about this subject. For STOGO Onderzoek + Advies I did lots of viewing of locations (schouwen) to make pictures and see the locations myself besides using data, interviews and other research material to come to a report with an advice in it. Besides handing out surveys I also sometimes had to observe the location or behavior of people for my internship Staal & Select, Forum, NGR, Labyrinth Onderzoek & Advies, Forum Research, Inview and IPSOS I&O. For both my internships, both theses, E-Quality, STOGO Onderzoek + Advies, Kennisbank Filantropie and my Big Data ecourse I did extensive literature research on various topics. This is something I love to do and I was already doing this during both my studies for the projects I had to do back then. This one I can attribute to both my studies and E-Quality. For E-Quality I analyzed policy documents (beleidsdocumenten) on various socially oriented topics on gender and (ethnic) diversity mostly. Sometimes I found a case that could be translated into a case study example for the advice to Dutch law makers. I still love going through policy documents, papers and books about various topics and see if the law makers found their gender focus or are still biased. The qualitative coding that I have done so far was for the internship Police, internship Staal & Select, Nederlandse GezinsRaad (NGR), Forum Research, Reality Keeper and coding for a thesis of a SPV'er who was following a post education program. The coding for NGR was done in Excel. I had to score quotes out of the interviews into topics. Based on this scoring the interview parts were combined into the advice report/book 'Ouders aan het woord: Hoe gezinsvriendelijk is Rotterdam?'. The coding for my internships all led to advice reports. The coding for Forum Research was to improve customer service. By coding for the thesis of the SPV'er I had to teach myself a new program in which I transformed interview quotes into codes and topics. I learned this quickly and it was fun to do and I would love to do more qualitative coding. It is comparable with the coding in a survey I did for Forum Research (Coding Emotions In Categories From A Survey Answer).
