SJBHC: Graignamanagh 2.14 V Mullinavat 1.16
Well done to the Jun B Hurlers who ground out a very good win over Mullinavat in the first round of the Championship. We had a very competent goalie in the ever ready Hughie Flood who pulled off a great save to stop a certain goal. Liam Hearne made another great block from a 21y free that was heading for the top corner & late on in the game James McCabe cleared his lines again to deny Mullinavat. As usual Leonard Blanchfield put in a great shift at full back. Jordan Brett, Dirmuid O’Neill who scored a lovely point & Nick O’Donnell were strong in the half back line. Jim & Thomas O’Donnell worked hard at mid field and tacked on a point each. Ger Walsh thankfully returning after a long break never lost his flair and tapped over two valuable points. Padraig Whelan was also in fine form contributing 5 points(2f)Dane Mangan showed his speed to tap home a vital goal, Jamie McGrath slipped his marker and side stepped the goalie to drill home his goal and also added 3 points (2f) Mick Dunne & Ryan O’Halloran worked their socks off and with the game level and heading towards extra time Nick O’Donnell grabbed a clever puck out from Hughie Flood and sent over the winning point from the wing. Thanks also to Alan Morrissey who came to steady the ship. They now meet Mooncoin in the ¼ final Friday evening @6.45pm in Glenmore. Come along and support the lads.
