B: Developing ideas

Develop a list of success criteria for the solution

A specification is a list of key points and/or constraints that designs must take account of. The specification can be written using different headings as a guide. This is a list of “must haves” for your project.

All your designs need to be checked against this list…

Copy and complete the table below onto your site. Outline how your ergonomic pen design could be checked with these.

Can you add any more success criteria of your own?

..

Present feasible design ideas, which can be correctly interpreted by others

Produce 2 designs for your pen, hand drawn in pencil.

Sketches do not need to be in colour but should be drawn to scale. (real size)

Show clearly the dimensions, ergonomics and any special design considerations. (eg: USB flash drive).

Evaluate both designs against the Design Specification.

Present the chosen design

Explain your final design choice. Why is this design the best?

Photocopy and render your best design. You may chose to re-draw it if your would like to make changes to the design.

Present your choice to your table group. Offer and receive feedback from your peers and make any adjustments.

Create a planning drawing/diagram which outlines the main details for making the chosen solution.
