Evaluation

Strategy

Determining a strategy for finding out the extent to which the solution meets the required needs. Typically this would include specifying a timeline, outlining what data will be collected and by what methods and techniques, and how the data relates to the criteria, which were developed in the designing stage.

Design testing for you solution. Describe how you will make judgments about where or not your solution is/will be a success.

Include tests that will gather qualitative and quantitative data.

For example: monitoring the hits on a website and then comparing them to any possible increase in sales could be a good quantitative test.

Surveying prospective users/customers to gauge their opinions would be a good qualitative test.

Report

Reporting on the extent to which the solution meets the requirements of the user. It usually takes place after the solution has been used by the user/client and is based on the criteria developed in the designing stage.

Carry out the testing you have described in the 'strategy' stage and then analyse the results.

  • Is your client happy with the end result? Why? Why not?
  • Did you deviate from your design?
  • What changes would you make?
  • What does the qualitative and quantitative information tell you?
