Assessment Tasks

Cloud computing is fast becoming the preferred platform for many business and other institutions. We have access to Google Education, the education solution of Google Apps, so we can explore its functionality and make judgments about the possible applications of this platform in the business world. You will use Google Sites and Google Drive throughout this course to submit work for assessment and to collaborate with your peers thereby developing a good understanding of this platform and indeed cloud computing in general.

Task 1:

Create a Google Site for this subject where you will submit all assessment tasks. This site should be professional in every way. Pay attention to the layout and navigation and ensure that the content and language is professional at all times.

For example, you will need to chose a name for your site that identifies your self and the subject. "Peters GBC Site" or "Betty's Global Business Communication" would be acceptable.

Under no circumstances are you to create webpages of your own unless you have my direct permission.

Design a landing page (homepage) and create new pages for each assessment task.

I have created VIDEOS for my Year 7 classes on how to set up a Google site as e-portfolio. This is in effect what you will be doing also so do refer to, or follow directly these videos.

Task 2: Info-graphic

Your task is to create an infographic about cloud computing in Australian based on new statistics published by the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

Infographics are graphical representations of information commonly used in all forms of digital media. A cool way to show information. There are several examples on this page.

Step 1: Download Australian Communications and Media Authority's report;

"Cloud computing in Australia" (MARCH 2014). attached at the bottom of the page.

The executive summary (pages 1-3) provide enough information and statistics for this task, however you are encouraged to read further to find information about certain companies, products or services that may be of more interest.

Step 2: Highlight 4-5 interesting stats that could be used in an infographic.

Step 3: Using a free infographic maker such as http://vizualize.me/ or Piktochart.com create your unique graphic. (10 free infrographic creators)

Step 4: Use the Snip Tool to take 3- 5 screen shots as you make your infographic so that I can see your progress.

Step 5: Create a page on your Google Site called "Cloud Computing" and upload your screen shots and completed infographic.
