The Puritas Longmead neighborhood was home to Puritas Springs Park. This was an amusement park that was built in 1898 by John Gooding of Painesville. It overlooked the Rocky River Valley. On the same site, a bottling plant was erected because of the spring mineral water found there. This is how Puritas Springs Park got its name.
