Kinsman was annexed to the City of Cleveland in 1873. Many factories were built along E. 79th Street. The Cleveland Wrought Iron Fence Company was founded in 1878. Streetcar lines were extended along Kinsman Road and Woodland Avenue in the 1860's and 1870's. The Garden Valley Estates were first constructed in 1959 as part of the Urban Renewal projects in Ohio. Another project was filling in Kingsbury Run Valley for playfields, elementary schools and a community center.
