The Corlett neighborhood was originally part of Newburgh and Warrensville Townships. Major development occurred at the intersection of E. 131st and Miles in the 1920's. The Boys' Club at East 131st and McLeer was built in 1926 as the Sokol Tyrs Hall (a recreational society for Czech immigrants). Corlett School was built in 1915 at E. 131st and Corlett. The area was named after Eliza and Harriet Corlett, who were early Irish settlers and both principals in the Cleveland Public Schools.
