Let’s do it! Pretty boring draft last night, but this should be an awesome season. I don’t think anyone had a bad draft. The fact that every team did draft someone I have never heard of or someone who I didn’t even consider putting on my draft board tells you how wide open this is. From what I can tell, no one has any idea who will be running the ball for Ohio St., Michigan, or Northwestern. I also included unit rankings at the end for the first time. As pointless as the Power Rankings are – especially Preseason - , these unit rankings are even more pointless. Without further ado, the Preseason Power Rankings:
1. Knipp – Sorry Knipp, but I sure as hell wasn’t gonna put myself #1. No weakness on this team. A couple of Illinois backups could be really good by the end of the season.
2. Farber – Very good at QB and WR. If this team had one running back I believe will still be on his team by the end of the year, he would be #1. But, I give Willis til the 2nd game before he gets hurt for the year, I don’t know who in the hell Lamonte Edwards is, and Hopkins is one of about 7 Mich RB’s fighting for second team carries.
3. Heydinger – “Pigs get fed. Hogs get slaughtered.” Mr. Hoggy had this set up perfectly last night, but got a little greedy by letting Vandenburg slip farther and farther. His 1’s and 2’s at WR and RB are probably better than anyone’s, but no quarterback as of now. Terbush may be ok, and I don’t know when/if Marve will be healthy, but I still don’t see it.
4. Jake – Got some really good players, but not a lot of depth to speak of. I really need Corey Brown to become a stud.
5. Luke – The receivers are week and the running backs are so so. I’m guessing he will be dangling around Vandenburg for trade bait a couple weeks from now.
6. Seth – Almost taking Rob Henry was almost the worst pick of the draft. You almost drafted a player out for the year for the second year in a row, but Heydinger and Knipp saved you. As for the worst pick of the draft; this Maxwell fella. I’m guessing you think Cousins will be hurt sometime soon and that’s the reason you took his backup. That being said I do like your RB’s and WR’s.
7. Schumann – "Procrastination is opportunity's natural assassin." Well that, and your WR’s. If Persa isn’t healthy this could be a long season. This team really needs Martin, Abbrederis, and Trumpy to play well against the bad teams at the start of year. If that happens the OSU players could carry him the rest of the year.
8. Haines – More of an initiation than honest ranking. Honestly thought you drafted a guy named Michael Cox so someone would say, “Who is Mike Cox?” Anyway, don’t like the QB’s or 2/3 of the running backs.
