Students agreed on the following questions should be answered in a birthday party invitation (and the teacher has added comments):
Whose party is it? (first name only)
When does it take place (date and time)? (February 30)
Where does it take place? (not at your house)
What kind of party is it?
What should you bring?
How do you RSVP? (phone number 555-1212)
Furthermore, the following two instructions should be heeded:
Include a headline, banner, or other attention grabber.
Use artwork or style to make it look nice.
The invitation should be formatted for 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
It should occupy most of one side of a page.
More than one font size must be used.
Graphics are a must. Choices include
clip art,
word art,
border art,
background fill,
a graphic,
and/or a drawing.
More than one color is required.
After making sure that the file you send in is anonymized for transport over the internet (by following the guidelines above), you may email the file as an attachment to the teacher (kalcock@basistucson.org). Please include your first name in the email message so that the document doesn't have to be opened to discover who sent it.
If you prefer, or especially if you do not have internet access in class, copy your document via your USB drive to a laptop the teacher has reserved for this purpose. You will see a link on the desktop to an ITCA folder where you can create your own folder with your name on it. Copy your document to your own folder and the teacher will collect it there.
Each of the 8 content requirements is worth a point, and each of the 5 4 technical requirements is worth another. Proper delivery as an attached email including your name is worth 2 points. So is the alternate delivery of the document into a folder bearing the student's name on a laptop reserved for that purpose in class. Total possible points for this project is therefore 15 14.
