From Stig, 28 June 2021.
I received the information from Jim Hobbs who in turn was relaying info from Ross Beattie who has asked me to forward on the following information.
Ross has been informed that one of our old boys Paul Morgan, was battling cancer and has passed away. Paul resided at Turramurra when attending school. He played soccer locally and at school. Des Naylor knew him and played soccer with him. He also had a hotel near Tamworth. He moved to Queensland and managed hotels.
I have just received the following from Des Naylor:
Had a very interesting evening with Paul Morgan , Dean Lukin the gold medallist weight lifter , the manager of the Gold Coast casino and myself at the casino many years ago.
I have not seen him since but Ross kept in contact - they worked together in Consorting many years ago - before Paul went into the hotel and liquor industry.
Sorry to hear of his passing
Not sure what the “Consorting” business is, but it definitely sounds interesting. Ross might be able to fill in some details………
Paul Morgan started Asquith Boys High in 1961. I knew him at Turramurra Primary in the 1950’s when it was a 1 room mixed class school with the only teacher being the headmaster Mr Short. Paul started school 1 year after me. The last time I saw him was at Turramurra school’s 50th anniversary dinner where all the pupils from the early day’s of the school were seated together. I was a foundation pupil at that school.
Paul owned a hotel in the Redlands area of Brisbane that had a slightly bawdy reputation. I never visited him there although he did ask me to.
