2004
Arrived at ABHS in 2B, having had enough of St.Leo’s. What a change not having to stand up to ask questions, and who can forget those wonderful swim (mud) sport days at Bobbin Head!
Highlight of school was the soccer team, we won nearly every week including the zone title, but rugby (that lost every week) got all the accolades at assembly!!
After Leaving Certificate drove trucks for 12 months. Started Mining Engineering at U.N.S.W., then worked in a coal mine for 3 months, it was the pits so promptly changed to Civil Engineering. Upon graduation worked as a Site Engineer on high rise buildings. After 12 months had enough of that, although the Kings Cross site was an education!
Then got a job with W.C. & I.C. as River Gauging Engineer at Tumut in southern NSW and was there for 5 years. Came back to Hornsby to run my own business as an Earthmoving Contractor and have been doing that ever since.
On the home front, Helen and I got married in 1972, and have three great daughters - Marnie (29) who has been working in London for the past 4 years - Shannon (27) married to Sam, who have just made us proud grandparents - and Erin (24) just back from London to do more study in Accountancy. The last school reunion was a great success, and from that caught up again with Rob Symington and we both went on a Simpson Desert crossing holiday. Also have regular dinner out with Ken Davis and Ray Harris and spouses.
