From the past:
"I have a good collection of vintage and veteran bikes, and am growing old disgracefully with my Sprint...."
2004
Having attended Hornsby Primary school, made the first day at ABHS somewhat of an anticlimax. However the diversity of kids and instructions from new teaching staff soon changed my perception. My only recollection of the time at this site is doing PE running around the building and falling down an open drain, subsequently being carted off to have 12 stiches in my leg. The march albeit walk to the new school was the beginning of 5 years walking to and from school. The train guards (prefects) tried to segregate the boys and Asquith girls, by walking to Hornsby station opened up other opportunities to fraternise with the girls.
Entered an “indentured” apprenticeship after the LC for 4 years.During this period I also completed Mechanical Engineering and Production Management at night. Early working days my entire income was spent on motorbikes, cars, and entertainment, I lived at home and convinced mum that on my megre wage I could not afford to pay board..those were the days!!
My birthday came out in the National Service ballot, however the “indenture” prevented my call up, had a 6 years of CMF in the Field Ambulance at Willoughby was most enjoyable. I have a great admiration and respect for guys like Gary ,Randall and Lee who made this journey ( I still wish I had done the same ).
Suffered a severe motorcycle accident 1980 , spent 12 months in and out of the San. Had numerous operations and rehab, funny how it doesn’t deter you from still riding.
Whilst I was preparing for the LC my lovelly future wife and partner was enrolling at kindergarten in Lyon (France) They emigrated to Aust. We met and married some 15 years later ( should have paid more attention in Goldstein’s classes) Virginie has blessed me with 3 lovelly daughters, all off whom are still at home and being schooled.(at AGHS)
1984 commenced our own manufacturing / contracting company, at times employing up to 30 staff….seriously thinking about winding down.
1986Virginie and I purchased a beef cattle and later olive producing property in the Hunter Valley…These two endeavours take up most of my time.
We have had many trips overseas..for Virginie back home, but my main passion over the years has been motorcycles and riding, I have a good collection of vintage and veteran bikes, and am growing old disgracefully with my Sprint. My present interest is in the Craft. Freemasonry is a truly fascinating and enlightening experience.
Looking forward to renewing friendships.
