From the past:
“We do however, have our estate in Europe - Croatia, being owners of two houses in a mountain village"
2004
I left school went into the Commonwealth Bank for a short while (30 years), since then been with Westpac, AMP, Colonial, and Integral Energy, caught up in the IT world - what fun.
During the early days I continued to play sport with my beloved rugby reaching 1st grade for the “Dirty Reds” Drummoyne, played basketball, snow skiing and rowing, capping off an illustrious career in rowing by winning the “Sydney Cup - Novice 4 (big deal).
After realising I was getting too old to continue with gummy knees etc, I took to investing in property. I was lucky to marry a girl (Liz) with a keen eye on investment. We almost bought about 1000 houses so far but and settled on 4 - still looking. Over the period we renovated about 4 or 5 on the way to where we are now - talk about property tycoons.
We have 2 kids, a girl Lee 27 and Paul 22, both still single, Paul still at home. Lee has been fantastic, achieved in everything she attempted, Paul is a boy and is as lazy as the typical boy, but he will grow up one day and with his confidence will do well - does anyone want him ?
Being such a young fella, it was hard to accept that I was entering the role of a GRANDFATHER but it happened and it has been great. A grandson Oliver, he is 2 on the 15 th of July and he is the boss of our family (no guesses where he came from - boys will be boys). We have him for most of the week or it seems that way - mother and father still talk but only just.
I read with interest, all these guys and their world exploits, I too have similar experiences. I was raised in Turramurra had a big move to Narrabeen (Ted Otton will know about that), moved from there to Hornsby, back to Turramurra next door to where I grew up and from there to Wahroonga. So, I have moved and travelled extensively as well - been to the Central coast. We do however, have our estate in Europe - Croatia, being owners of 2 houses in a mountain village with 5 other families as owners, the rest of the village has about 25 families livng there. Our side of the family uses the place as a holiday retreat, real retreat for us we haven’t been there since we acquired it. The estate consists of 14 parcels of land with about 10 olive trees, 20 grape vines and not much more, the last time we checked the property still fitted on the back of a postage stamp.
