From the past:
2004
As the records indicate I wasn't much of a student at Asquith. My recollection is that I spent more time being reprimanded by Mr Holmes and other teachers than studying for good exam results. Many of my misdemeanours involved Asquith Girls, a sort of Bonnie and Clyde approach to life and co-truancy.
However, after I left school (prior to sitting for the Leaving Certificate) I started life in the commercial world and at night time for the next 13 years I studied Commerce (2 years); Accountancy (4 years), Company Secretarial Practice (2 years) and lastly completed (over 4.5 years part time) the Barrister-at-Law exams (BAB SAB). At the time I felt I had to keep going to make up for not properly finishing school.
My working life has been very satisfying with senior executive positions (CEO, CFO and COO) in many companies, large and small. Since 1989 I have been involved with the reconstruction of a number of companies which for one reason or another have fallen on difficult times.. Included in these have been Bell Resourses Ltd (after it was raped and pillaged by Bond Corporation) Century Drilling; AWA; Burns Philp & Co Ltd; Plessey Corporation; Endeavour Healthcare and last year, Pan Pharmaceuticals Limited. Amongst other things, I am currently a non-executive director of Solution 6 Holdings Ltd and assisting with the merger of that company with MYOB. I will go onto the Board of MYOB after the merger is finalised.
I have been married to Loretta for 33 years (I met her just after I left Asquith) (She was a Loreto girl and not an Asquith Girl) and we have lived at Killara for the last 23 years. We have 3 children --2 girls Amanda (28) Fiona (25) (they went to PLC not Asquith) and 1 boy Alex (22) who went to Knox (he doesn't know any Asquith Girls).
