Adelaide - July 4
Judy, Ronan and I were in Adelaide to visit former sailing friends, and I had made arrangements with David to catch up over lunch in Hutt Street and have a bit of a chin wag about all things ABHS, including this project. Unfortunately, fate decided otherwise on this occasion, and our opportunity to get together didn't eventuate. A subsequent phone call from David once I was back in Hobart brought me up to speed with the modifications that he had made to further develop the site. Great stuff, David, and I am looking forward to more of our colleagues contributing to the material that we already have. (Greg Baxter)

From noon the following sauntered in to the function room off the Bistro. Most with drinks in hand by then greeted oft seen mates as well as some not seen for more that 50 years since leaving ABHS. Lunch meals were ordered individually from the Bistro.
During lunch Stig welcomed visitors and highlighted the golfing achievements of 2015 ABHS graduate, Harrison Endycott who is currently playing in the World Amateur Team Golf Championship, Eisenhower Trophy. This year, the 30 year old event is being played at Iberostar, on Mexico’s Caribbean coast.[1]
Chris Kent followed Stig’s welcome with information about a development project at ABHS; to develop a hall of ABHS Sports Champions. The purpose of this development is to highlight the sports achievements of students and former students who represent NSW and Australia in sport, for the benefit of current students. Blue Gum management donated two prizes for a raffle held during the lunch; a bottle of vintage red (won by Alan Roberts) and a voucher for meals in the Bistro (won by Keith Hornshaw). The raffle resulted in $230 being raised for the School, towards the hall of ABHS Sports Champions. The next three years will see preparations made for ABHS 60th in 2020.
During the afternoon a photo display of 1960 and 1961 ABHS Class photos provided a challenge for diners to put names to faces of unidentified former classmates (original B & W class photos were originally supplied without the names of individuals). By the end of the function another 20+ had been identified, to be relayed to the ABHS Pioneer website. Other photo displays included photos from the School’s 40th Anniversary reunion functions in 2000.
Thanks to Stig Falster for organising another excellent ABHS Pioneers reunion.

[1] Endycott with his 3 other Australian team mates went on to win the Eisenhower Trophy, by 19 strokes for the first time since 1996. Their record equaling score of 38-under-par 534, matched that achieved by the USA in 2014. The Australians victory margin was the third-largest in championship history. Australians, also won World Amateur Team titles in 1958 and 1966.
Hopefully space will be reserved for Endycott's achievement in the hall of ABHS Sports Champions mentioned above.
