2020 update
Born: Manchester, England. In Australia since 1951. British and Australian Passports.
Marital: Widower. Happily Married for 43 years to Loretta who died in 2014. I met Loretta when I was 17 (she was 16) and married at 23. Three adult children, 4 grandchildren.
Qualifications: Accountancy (FCPA); Law (Barristers Admission Board) (BAB SAB); Member of the Law Society of NSW (Non Practicing); Fellow Corporate Governance Institute (FGIA); Fellow Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD).
Interests: family/Business/Politics/Golf.
Most of Married life we lived at Killara NSW and currently in Willoughby.
School: I commenced High School at ABHS in 1960 and left after completing 4th year. As a student at ABHS I was a reasonable golfer (and not much else). Thankfully about a year after I left school I got the fire in my belly and decided that I should go to night school to see if I could make something of myself.
Professional History: My professional qualifications are in accounting and law but throughout my business life I have been employed at senior management levels in large and small companies (ASX listed and unlisted). I am an experienced Company Director and have been chairman and executive chairman of numerous companies over many years. I am currently a Non-Executive Director of a medium sized Australian public company and member of three of its committees and chairman of one of them. I am also currently involved with a Melbourne based corporate advisory firm.
I have a diversified corporate history, industries include brewing, wine, pubs, health services, electronics, software solutions, manufacturing, business systems and software, pharmaceuticals, food additives, contract oil and mineral drilling, corporate advisory; For a considerable period I was involved in corporate workouts and reorganisation. Many of those were highly publicized.
