From the past:
"In a futile attempt to thwart the inevitable onset of middle age, I do admit to purchasing and restoring an Austin-Healey 3000, which I affectionately refer to these days as my "chook magnet..."
2004
I repeated 5th year to improve on the 4 Bs of 1964, and completed an engineering degree at UNSW under a cadetship with a company called Morganite.
I briefly worked for Rheem until joining Qantas in late 1973. My involvement in the airline industry gave me a great opportunity to tour the world, both on business and holidays over a period of 23 years. The variety of roles I undertook was also most rewarding, and included operational and line management positions in airports, catering, commercial and internal consulting divisions.
In 1995 I joined SOCOG and was instrumental in establishing and running the food and beverage program for the Olympic Games. After the Games, I re-joined Qantas as a consultant, and, for the past 3 years, have been leading a business improvement program in Malaysia Airlines Engineering and Maintenance Division based in Kuala Lumpur. I married in 1976, had 3 children, divorced in 1986 and am now with a wonderful lady, living by the water at Mortlake (near Cabarita). Joanne and I reckon that we are at that wonderful stage in life where the kids have left home and the grand children have not yet arrived. In a futile attempt to thwart the inevitable onset of middle age, I do admit to purchasing and restoring an Austin-Healey 3000, which I affectionately refer to these days as my “chook magnet”. Roll on the 31st !!!
