Blue Gum Hotel - 6 April 2018
A lovely Sydney autumn day saw 20 of us convening at the old stamping ground – the Blue Gum Hotel.
Lively discussions were the order of the day and there were, as you would expect given the fact that the average age is verging on 71, the obvious sharing of a few ageist wounds and talk of lost comrades. The wine selection left me wondering. Possibly an homage to the absent Andy Royal!!
Apart from the early acceptances, we were pleasantly surprised to have Ray Kench join us and John Berne popped in for a quick bite in between patients.
Most of us reside in Sydney, but special mention must go to Geoff Webb (South Coast) and Roger Meischke (Gundaroo) who had quite long commutes and Robert Cairncross (Central Coast) who maxed out his $2.50 train fare!
The group photo with Ray Kench standing, shows us all:
Standing, l-r: Dr. John Berne, Keith Hornshaw, Vern Sotter, Bruce Gordon, James Hobbs, Geoff Webb, Greg Neilson, Warwick Werner, Lynden Norgate, Dr. Roger Meischke, Alan Bruce, Robert Cairncross, Mr (Ray) Kench, Chris Kent.
Seated, l-r: Dr. Jeremy Cahill, Errol Edge, Max Fisher, Stig Falster, Danny Beecroft, Gordon Forsyth!
All were looking quite good, despite what various doctors have done to us. We all agreed that it was great to be standing and above ground!
Sensitive topics were judiciously avoided!
To those who came, thanks and look forward to the next one.
- Stig Falster
Looks like a great gathering. Sorry I’d couldn’t be there with you. Hopefully next time. Thanks for the photos Stig. Regards to all. Peter Ryall
Great Photos Stig. Also sorry I couldn’t attend...next time. Just one question..
How come Ray looks younger than all of you???? Is it his clean living????
Cheers - Symo
Symo .. Answer : Ray looks younger than 19 of them !!!!! Vern ..
Thanks Vern - and your not looking that old yourself!! Cheers Alan
Thank you for the photos Stig and once again apologies for my last minute cancellation due to an urgent case of family first, courtesy of my 98 year old aunt who I managed, miraculously, to get into respite in an aged care facility on the Northern Beaches. It has been quite a journey. Take care and I am now convinced Alan and Ray are brothers. All the best. Peter C
Thank you for organising the get together my lovely lady friend Vanessa thought we were a fine group of fellows - Max
Sorry I missed it . Pleased Dogs Balls got there. It was great to catch up with Jerry for a "non-consultation " chat at Bluesfest the week before. Ray Kench is looking the same age as if he was one of the cohort. Cheersahoy - Des
