This past weekend our Second graders had their first meeting for First Reconciliation. Please remember to bring the books to school for Mrs. Steffen to work with the students. They work so hard not only to prepare for the sacraments but to learn and live our Catholic faith traditions. What's Happening in 2nd Grade Religion? A lot! A few weeks ago, our class visited Adoration. The students were amazed by the beautiful gold vessel displayed on the altar. They learned that this special item has a name and a purpose. The students discovered is is called a monstrance-the sacred vessel that holds the consecrated host, the TRUE presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. After learning about the monstrance, the students colored their own monstrance. There's always something new and exciting to learn about our Catholic Faith! - Mrs. Steffen
There are a few children in the older graders who began working with Ms. Fay at lunch on Sacramental prep as well. Next week Monday our 8th graders will participate in part 1 of their retreat for the year. They will be watching the movie The Way with guided reflection.
Mr. Winters is offering private lessons. Please see the flyer below. Also mark your calendar for our Christmas concert on December 17, 2025. 1:00 will be a run through where all the students will be in the church listening as well and then our 6:00 show will be with the students dressed in Fun Festive Christmas attire. (no jingly bells)

If you would like to volunteer for fieldtrips or at any school event you need to sign up for the Safe Environment training through the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
Each year we are asked to volunteer to be on an accreditation team for another school. I have the privelege of being at another school yesterday and today to celebrate the hard work they have been doing over the last 7 years to grow and achieve their goals. Every time I attend another schools visit I take away some ideas that they are doing. I also appreciate who we are and what we do at JPIIA. In this month of thanksgiving and gratitude I can not offer my sincere appreciation for each and everyone of YOU, families, teachers, staff, and students.
In the counseling corner this week, we are spotlighting our new virtue of respect, meaning to treat someone or something with kindness or care. Our weekly intention is “I will use active listening to show others that what they say is important” this intention is one that we discussed in one of our SEL lessons. Active or whole body listening shows others that we are valuing what they are saying. On our SEL lesson front, this week I am working with students on gratitude. This means being appreciative and content with what we have and how to show that appreciation to others.
Our fourth grade students have become such a little family. They are so supportive of each other and always want to share with each other. Yes this comes with the never ending chatter but the growth we have seen in peer to peer relationships in this classroom over the past year has a lot to be celebrated. I have enjoyed my time in 4th grade watching their lessons and hearing their interactions building each other up academically and socially.
John 23rd is a community program in St. Patrick's church that provides after school tutoring, homework help and enrichment events. They are taking registrations for 4-12 grade. It is a free program. Here is the link to register. 25-26 After School Registration
