The hope is that we will have our annual Pumpkin Day this Friday 10/10. Kyle's pumpkin Farm will be bringing pumpkins for every student to our school for the kiddos to have. Due to the rain Monday into Tuesday I am waiting for confirmation if they were able to harvest the needed pumpkins for us. Right now the plan is a go until I hear otherwise. Please make sure your student has a bag they can carry a pumpkin home in.
October 7th we had our first Living Rosary. Students sat in the middle as our 6-8 grade students created the beads of the Rosary. Each student had the choice to lead their prayer in English or Spanish this year. Thank you Ms. George and Mrs. Koll for leading this event. Thank you to Parishioners at St. Sebastians for providing each of students with beautiful handmade Rosaries. Thank you to our students for truly focusing on the gift of prayer.
Father Tim's Homily today was about our Merciful God. He encouraged us to imitate the Lord by being forgiving to others. Do we forgive people from our heart?
Today our third grade class lead Mass for the first time. They did a fabulous job.

October is such a busy time of year. We have things continuing to happen throughout the month that envelope our Cardinal values and our Catholic Faith. The spirit wear came in at the very end of the day yesterday and was distributed to classrooms today. I am waiting for the Midwest Mixes to arrive and those will come home in backpacks as well. Please be sure to sign up for the adults attending grandparent day. That came out today. Trunk or treat sign up is also out. Reminder no one can attend trunk or treat without a wrist band.
In the counseling corner this week, we are continuing our focus on the virtue of Acceptance, meaning to accept others for who they are and to accept things and ideas that could be different from what we are used to. Our weekly intention is “I will accept others that look or act differently than me” this intention is one we strive for now and into the future. On our SEL lesson front, this week I am working with our older grades on feelings. We are spotlighting anger. We are learning what could cause it, and what to do to feel better.
Our Middle Schoolers have been writing away. Eighth graders did the how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich writing prompt. They then were able to follow the directions word for word to try to make the sandwich. Let's just say very few complete sandwiches were made. Dr. Manikham's question to them was how they would change their writing piece after watching the steps being followed. There was a lot of learning that came from the tangible activity of having the students follow the directions.
John 23rd is a community program in St. Patrick's church that provides after school tutoring, homework help and enrichment events. They are taking registrations for 4-12 grade. It is a free program. Here is the link to register. 25-26 After School Registration
