Performing Arts

Year 9 Performing Arts introduces students to the fundamentals of effective story telling. Students observation and listening skills are heightened by studying legends which help to explain the world we live in. Girls are challenged to use all the elements of a tragic story to invent a unique tragedy of their own.

Course Focus

  • use creative skills for script writing, improvising, choreographing, performing and critically viewing a range of short performances

  • chorus and ensemble work promote self esteem and confidence as everyone plays an equally important part in successful communication

  • increase in appreciation for Dance and Drama in global and historical contexts in which Greek theatre will provide the foundation for a range of comedy and tragedy explorations
