Technology

Year 8

Technology at Year 8 provides students with the opportunity to design, test and develop their own technological outcomes in a range of contexts, including digital technologies, materials technology and design and visual communication. These contexts are combined to make a valuable, exciting and in-depth learning experience.

Across the contexts, the students will develop transferable skills, such as research, problem solving, technical skills, and computational thinking. This module leads into Year 9 Technology where technological and design knowledge is developed to a higher level.

Course focus:

  • develop programming skills through robotics

  • learn how computers store, represent and manipulate data

  • plan, design and build robots to meet the competition brief

  • design and create an interactive e-Mural

  • develop sketching and digital design skills

  • develop hand stitching skills while designing and developing an e-Textiles project

Course Contribution: $40 indicative amount, may be subject to change.

Consumables - material, conductive thread and LEDs for eTextiles, electric paint and Robocup entry fees.
