Integrated Studies and Literacy

Year 8

Integrated Studies is a combination of English and Social Studies at Curriculum Level Four. The curriculum strands are covered over two years in the junior school through a range of contexts.

Course focus

  • culture, heritage and identity, and the history of St Hilda's

  • the causes of conflict and effect that it has on individuals and groups

  • the development of entrepreneurial skills and business knowledge

  • the impact of innovation and exploration on our way of life

  • the study of influential change makers that have shaped history

  • decisions and actions that impact on our environment

  • leadership and their consequences

Within these contexts students will learn the English skills required to examine short texts, complete a novel study, write both creative and formal pieces, research information and create visual and oral presentations.
