Year 8

The Year 8 programme further introduces students to some key themes that are found in the six strands of the Anglican Schools' Curriculum. These are: The Bible and Jesus; Christian Doctrine and Worship; Church History; World Religions; Ethics, Morals and Values; Personal Faith and Philosophical Issues

The key theme in Year 8 is that of Belief and the programme is based around the following questions:

  • What do people believe about God?

  • What do people in specific countries believe?

  • What do people believe about ethics, morals and values?

  • What do people believe about Christmas?

Course Focus

  • the enhancement of journaling as a spiritual practice

  • investigation of the main religion of a country with its beliefs and practices

  • consideration of the different ways children around the world think about God and faith

  • investigation of the Christmas story as found in the gospels

  • exploration of the different artistic and cultural expressions of the Nativity
