Year 7

The Year 7 programme introduces students to some key themes that are found in the six strands of the Anglican Schools' Curriculum: The Bible and Jesus; Christian Doctrine and Worship; Church History; World Religions; Ethics, Morals and Values; Personal Faith and Philosophical Issues.

The key theme in Year 7 is that of Identity and the programme is based around the following questions:

  • Who am I?

  • Who is Jesus?

  • Who are we as an Anglican school?

  • Who am I as a St Hilda's student?

Course Focus

  • introduction to journaling as a spiritual practice

  • exploration of symbols of different religions and the creation of personal symbols

  • investigation of the Easter story as found in the gospels

  • consideration of various artistic and cultural representations of the person of Jesus

  • exploration of the chapel and also the meaning of Eucharist in preparation for the Easter Eucharist service

  • investigation of the history of the Anglican church in New Zealand
