Year 9

Year 9 Mathematics introduces students to work on Level 5 of the National Curriculum. The course covers all five strands from the curriculum: Number, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement and Statistics

  • we assess at the conclusion of each term, covering all topics taught in the previous weeks and challenging students to retain their understanding

  • grades are reported based on the five strands of the curriculum

Course Focus

We cover the following topics for each of the strands:

  • Number - integers, number properties, fractions, decimals and percentages

  • Algebra - patterns, algebraic simplification, solving equations

  • Geometry - angle properties of parallel lines and polygons, geometric reasoning

  • Measurement - area, perimeter and volume of standard shapes

  • Statistics - data handling and univariate investigations
