Product, Spatial & Graphic Design

Year 10 - Semester Option

In the Design and Visual Communication course students apply creative and critical thinking skills to product, spatial and graphic design challenges. This provides a foundation to continue the subject in Years 11-13 as students are introduced to thinking, drawing, model-making, software and presentation techniques that are used extensively at senior levels of the subject.

Course focus

  • develop skills to create concepts and develop design ideas in response to a brief, through using sketching and digital media tools to effectively communicate and present design ideas.

  • look at design principles relating to aesthetics, function and sustainability.

DVC gives students a foundation of design skills that are applicable in a wide range of pathways such as product, interior, landscape, graphic, industrial and user-interface design as well as engineering and architecture.

Course contribution: $40 indicative amount, may be subject to change.
