Year 10 - Semester Option

This is an opportunity to learn about art as visual communication in two and three dimensions. Any career or industry that requires ideas to be communicated visually will use art principles and elements to do this. The aim of this course is to enable the student to create artworks that are developed through the creative process, using ideas and experimenting with art processes and media from established art practice.

During the year, students will work in-depth in both two and three-dimensional media. All units of work will provide appropriate skills and concepts that relate to senior Art programmes.

Course focus

  • develop technical, media handling, painting, photographic and compositional skills

  • approaches to analysing artworks

  • use of art analysis and art conventions to create individual drawing and multi-media artwork.

  • art developmental skills and concepts

  • how to use photo-shop software to develop and create artworks

  • explore an individual thematic study based on student choice of subject matter.

This course is recommended for students who wish to take Visual Art in Year 11.
