Armstrong identifies the differences between Okanagan views and practices to the practices and views of dominant society. Many differences she addresses include the four capacities of self, community, language of the land, and hands of the spirit. They all show the importance of identity and belief. Okanagans have a more spiritual and reasonable view of understanding. They consider everything around them and appreciate what makes them Okanagan. They face a problem along with us. That being disorder. That brings death to the spirit of the Earth. That also compares our view of the world and how we differ from the dominant society.

In this article, Joe Suina talks about his experience growing up in his home pueblo of Cochiti. He grew up learning his culture and traditions through his grandmother. His life was simple, up until he started school. This opened a new world and was surely a strange one. As he continued through school, he became less confident in himself, and school had begun undoing the Indian within him. He grew embarrassed and humiliated for being Native American and eventually went to a boarding school away from home. Being away from home encouraged him to adopt the white man's way of life in terms of survival, eventually leading him to make the difficult decision of giving up a part of his life and going back to boarding school.

The article by B. Toastie is very informative on the way we view landscapes and how the names of such places can have an affect on individuals and even communities. Its made clear in this case that the name of a landscape can heavily impact Native cultures, via disrupting "place identity" and meaning. Names on landscape can hold many memories, history, and cultural identity and in this article, colonizers naming such environments take away from the real meaning of different cultures.

Michael H. Thaut shares in this article his exploration in many beliefs throughout history that music has healing properties. He explains that there are Ideas evolved from ancient and cultural practices, into modern scientific approaches. These concepts were shaped by many societies in ancient history by their understanding of illness and music. Few examples include societies in Mesopotamia about 5000-6000 years ago, Ancient Greece in the 17th century, and more in the middle ages. These events suggest that music was used in medical practice before modern medicine was established.

Altogether the article discussed and focused on the mental health within Native American communities. It mentioned that most Indigenous communities share the same mental illness because of shared trauma. That being generational trauma. Its difficult for Indigenous people to recieve help because of different barriers that prevent them for properly seeking help. These include the mistrust of government services and improper funding. Its also discussed that some treatment should encourage connections to cultural and traditional identity, allowing comfort for Indigenous people to recieve proper care.

Music therapy is recognized for its efficiency on managing disease and illness. Mainly because of its little to no adverse effects and safe therapeutic approach. Although beneficial, it can sometimes provoke patients via unwanted and difficult memories. Music therapy can also be dated back to ancient times, prophesized by Greek philosophers. Later used and turned into science, offering many professions. Currently, music therapy is being researched and is likely to prove as first-line therapy in the management of disease and illness.
