From September 15 to October 25, students at P.S008 are celebrating the accomplishments and artistans from various Hispanic Regions.
5th graders learned about the origins of the Vejigante Mask, how the twist of the colonization of the Spanish war, used for terror now turned into a carnival tradition.
2nd graders unlocked re-imagining everyday creatures and scenes to whimsical and dream-like composition, all through the observations of Dominican Artist Clara Ledesma.
Students used their imagination to assemble their own dream-like composition, using animals, botanical, dots, zig-zag and spirals.
For Hispanic Heritage month Kinders learned about Mexican-Canadian artist, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. In 2022 he exhibited interactive The Pulse Room in New York that broadcasts and records every visitor’s heartbeat across 3,000 suspended light bulbs.
The pulse room records the visitors' heartbeat through the pulse senor.
Kinders were guided to feel their own heartbeat and sense the rhymical beat it has. With our practice with drawing types of lines (i.e.: straight, curved, loops, and dashes) they drew our heart lightbulb, and practiced cutting rounded shapes ( lightbulb and oval)
Kinders collaborated with their hearts to form our own pulse room display!
Kinders at class K-403 and K-405 are practicing their motor skills to cut out their organic rocks and collaborate to arrange their rainbow rocks.
Stay Tuned for Next Month!
