We discussed about the medium we were using, charcoal. What is the source and process to create artist grade charcoal? By charring  wood! So in a way, we were using a part of a tree to draw a tree!

Students showcased their use of value with charcoal ( for dark value) and (light value), chalk and mid-value as the gray paper itself. 

We had our first graders and Art club create their own ornaments for the CB 7 Annual Tree Lighting.

With the nights getting longer and the weather getting cooler, we need warmth. 

Third and first graders worked on on belly breathing ( by blowing out candles as an analogy) to practice mindfulness and think of what we need. 

Students experiemented using oil pastels to blend and layer colors to create their own candle designs, parts of candle and observing features of a candle flame.
