Happy New Year P.S 008 Community! Starting something new can be challenging but I wish you all the best on whatever resolutions you have for this year!
On the premise of ice skaters performances. 3rd graders initial focus was on World Champ Kaori Sakamoto performance at Canada's short program, how she creates movements by utilizing all parts of her body. By replicating and creating their own, they drew and commented on eachothers gesture drawings!
Bird-Eye View Snow People
4th graders observed and exercised how bird eye point of view changes and distorts the perception of a subject.
We looked at Photographies of cultural landmarks such as Zhivopisny Bridge) to discuss the change and how that will affect the layout of our snowperson.
Furthermore, they used chalk pastels and blend to diffused the colors and used radial balance for their scarf to imitate that the scarf is being wrapped around the snowperson.
3rd graders learned that a folk artist such as Heather Galler are not trained in an art school, like any artist, she took time to observe and practice their skill set. Based on her contemporary work, students formed their custom background, cup, saucer, handle with line work throughout.
