Hispanic Heritage Month!
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, 1st graders learned about the elements of lines and shapes to form their own characters based on the Spanish Artist Joan Miró.
Oil-Resist
Armadillos
3rd graders started off their project of a Three-Banded Armadillo, native to Brazil.
Students then learn about Alebrijes from Mexico. They are used in Dia de los Muretos celebrations too. Using oil pastels and watercolor to resist the oil pastel lines. Alebrijes are special because no two are ever alike!
4th and 5th grades are learning about the tradition of Mola (means "shirt"). This is a textile art from Panama for the Kuna Women. Key feature of molas are their bold color contrast and layers of sewing fabric.
Students brainstormed for their own design in their sketch book and contining to refer to their choices in their work.
