3rd graders took on the role of ensuring the safety of a stray cat or dog. In this weather, they needed to regulate the animal's body temperature.
They depicted the cat/dog they rescued using observation and reference images. The setting space was made cozy through crayon rubbings for the patterned carpet and the use of tissue paper and layering to depict the warmth of the fireplace.
The Moshulu tree-lighting ceremony occurred, and our art club students got together to build on our community tradition of creating tree ornaments.
First graders have been feeling the chill of the winter season. To keep their bear paws warm, they designed bear socks with outfits. Students experimented with layering, folding, and cutting paper garments to adhere to the socks.
First graders applied warm and cool color oil pastels based on the book Owl's Little Scarf. The layer of oil pastel colors provided a space to scratch the top layer to create patterns using a flat toothpick.
Two watercolor techniques to create a portrait wearing a long scarf were utilized to create a winter atmosphere: Salt and oil resistance.
