On the theme of inclusivity 3rd graders were inspired from a read aloud The Big Umbrella
Book by Amy June Bates and Juniper Bates. They realized the umbrella is a symbol of safety and a source of shelter. Taking the meaning of the umbrella, students provided protection to a gesture figure(s). Students used analogous colors for the umbrella top. This sculpture relief, used texture from shredded paper and coffee filters.
My 3rd and 4th grade Art club collaborated together in the school wide musical, Frozen!

Value in art means the lightness and darkness on an object. Above is an even scale of a value range.
5th grade students use types of pencil-based shading to create various techniques value scales. As their study continue and they answered what they absolutely need to start their day, what is essential every day?
Students used observation skills on their choice of digital reference images on thumbnails and decided which shading technique(s) is most suitable for their final drawing after a peer review.
They had to use a range of five values that is found throughout the drawing and have a gradual shift within the value scale.
