TFI 2.10 EVALUATION: Level of Use

Team follows written process to track proportion of students participating in Tier 2 supports, and access is proportionate.

Systems support the accurate and durable implementation of practices by staff, the efficient use of data for decision-making, and achievement of outcomes. Staff are trained to prevent many student behavior problems as well as to deal with disruptive behaviors in a proactive and positive manner. Systems provide the procedures and infrastructure to support and maintain new evidence-based practices.

TFI 2.10 Big Ideas

In element, TFI 2.10, the Tier 2 Team will review total numbers of students enrolled in Tier 2 intervention(s) to ensure that at least 5% of all students receive a Tier 2 intervention throughout the school-year.

Action planning includes: Determining the total number of students (5%) based on the sites enrollment and assessing which Tier 2 supports would be eligible to run through the TFI (2.5) as an intervention.

Determine How Many Students - Possible

It is recommended that 5-15% of the student population be enrolled in Tier 2 each school year. With that understanding Tier 2 interventions (i.e. Emotion Management, Check-in/Check-out) need to be available to at least 5% of the student population. It should be noted that the remaining 10% of students will benefit from the additional Tier 2 supports made available (i.e., Friendship Groups, Grief and Loss Groups, Undercover Bullying Teams, etc.).

At the beginning of each school year, Tier 2 Teams should determine the approximate number of students who may need access to Tier 2 Supports/Interventions. This will help the Tier 2 Team to determine if they should be analyzing additional data sources to ensure they find all students who could benefit from Tier 2 interventions.

Tier 1: 80 - 90% will be successful

Tier 2: 5 - 15% will need targeted support

Tier 3: 1 - 5% will need individualized support

Determine How Many Students - Actual

Each month the Tier 2 Team will monitor how many students are enrolled in an intervention. This will be tracked on the Tier 2 Pre-Meeting Organizer

Monthly Tier 2 Systems Planning Teams will:

1) Review Total Numbers: The total number of students who have received and/or are currently receiving interventions should be tracked by the Tier 2 Team on a monthly basis. This can be documented on the Tier 2 Pre-Meeting Organizer monthly (TFI 2.2).

Note: A running log should be kept by the Tier 2 Team to capture the total numbers for the school year.

2) Identify New Students: Following the process established in TFI 2.3, each month the Tier 2 Team will discuss possible new students for their identified interventions.

Examples - How to Identify New Students:

Review existing school data (ODR, Suspension, Attendance, etc.),

Parent/Student/Staff Nominations, and

Panorama Student SEL Survey data.

Together this will help the Tier 2 Team ensure they are keeping track of how many students are receiving Tier 2 intervention(s) and constantly finding students who could benefit from Tier 2 interventions. Thus hitting their 5% goal.

How to Score 2 Points on TFI 2.10

To receive a 2 Point Score Teams must be able to say yes to the following set of questions.

For each intervention selected in TFI 2.5:

2 Point:

Team defines criteria and tracks proportion, with at least 5% of students receiving Tier 2 supports.

1 Point:

Team defines criteria for responding to each Tier 2 intervention and tracks students, but fewer than 5% of students are enrolled.

0 Point:

Team does not track number of students responding to Tier 2 interventions.
