Wood Working 6

Students in Grade 6 will learn how to make a seamless butt joint which is fastened together with nails, screws and/or glue through the process of building a standard bird house.

Materials needed for the birdhouse are:

  • 1x6 Cedar cut to the following lengths
    • 3 pieces 9" long (sides)
    • 1 piece 4" long (bottom)
    • 1 piece 7 1/2" long (roof)
    • 1 piece 13" long (back)
  • Tittebond II or III glue as this is safe for birds to eat
  • 1 1/2" forstner bit
  • 1/4" drill bit
