Week 7 Math 9
May 19th - May 22nd
Daily Estimation Activity
Learning Outcomes Being Addressed This Week:
By the end of the week, you (each student) should have a good understanding of how to do this list:
I CAN estimate based on real life benchmarks
I CAN build, draw and determine the surface area of composite 3D objects
Activity/Task #1: Review Rubric
Students will be completing a few questions to refresh their understanding of scale in Khan Academy:
1. VIDEO Introduction: What is Scale?
a. Khan Academy Practice Problems: Is it a scale? (you should be shooting for more than 80% correct)
2. VIDEO introduction: Finding Corresponding sides I
VIDEO introduction Two: Finding Corresponding sides II
a. Khan Academy Practice: Corresponding Sides (you should be shooting for more than 80% correct)
3. Video Introduction: Confirming Scale Values
a. Khan Academy Practice: Confirming Scale Values (you should be shooting for more than 80% correct)
Estimate of Time Required: 1 hours
Resources: Khan Academy.
Demonstration of Learning
Students will get real time formative feedback through Khan Academy and parents should be able to see if these are completed within the student’s Khan Academy dashboard.
Activity/Task #2: FINAL Draft of Name Project: Drawing
Before logging in to Mathletics, watch the video below to refresh your memory on what a corresponding angle is
Video Definition: corresponding angles
Log in to Mathletics (your username and password were emailed on April 8th but if you need a refresher, email me and I will look it up for you!). You will only be able to access the three assignments below. As many of you noticed earlier, if you are not sure how to complete the questions, you simply need to click on the “i” button on the top right corner of the page.
1. Similarity: Are you ready
2. Similar Figures I
3. Similar Figures
Estimate of Time Required: 45 minutes
Resources: Mathletics.
Demonstration of Learning
Students will get real time formative feedback through Mathletics.
Activity/Task #3: FINAL Draft of Name Project: Calculations
Description of Activity or Task:
1. A copy of the Calculations Chart is shared with you in Google Classroom. use this to record the answers to your calculations for the Surface Area, Area of Overlap and Volume for your project for the 1 cm cube structure and then again for double the original size and again for tripling the original size.
2. Complete the chart and submit in Google Classroom with your calculations/equations used to complete calculations.
Estimate of Time Required: 45 minutes
Resources: www.mrnannan.com, google classroom
Demonstration of Learning Students will submit their rough draft of calculations through google classroom.
The red blocks is what your isometric drawing will look like
The middle image is what your drawing should look like after erasing the lines separating the blocks
The image on the right is what the front view would look like, we will not be making drawings like these this year.
